EV Charging Station FAQ
Electric vehicles, or EVs, are becoming increasingly popular. For the unfamiliar, learning about electric vehicles and charging can bring up lots of questions about EV charging stations. We here at BMW of Wesley Chapel are here to help you learn about EV charging stations so you can charge your EV with ease.

How Does Electric Vehicle Charging Work?
BMW offers both all-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which are charged the same way: using power outlets either at home or at public charging stations. With your electric vehicle, you received the included BMW flexible fast charger which is compatible with 120V or 240V outlets. This means you can use this charger at home or on-the-go.
If you prefer to charge only at home, consider the available BMW Wallbox Level 2 240V charger for a faster charge from the comfort of your own home.
How Often Do I Need to Charge My EV?
For daily drivers, overnight charging is typical. This kind of charging is called Level 1 charging, as it usually uses a 120V outlet and is a slower form of charging. Everyday commutes and errands can easily be done on one night’s charge.
If you go on a road trip or drive an extended amount, you will need to recharge more frequently. To find nearby stations and check your car’s battery status, use the My BMW app.
Public charging can sometimes come with fees, but you won’t have to worry about that for a while thanks to the two years of complimentary on-the-go charging comes with your BMW EV through Electrify America.
What Kinds of Charging Stations Are There?
Most EV charging stations look similar, their main difference lies in whether they are free or paid. Either way, you will pull your vehicle into a charging space and plug-in your car using the provided cords. Public charging stations offer DC Fast charging (480V), so you can get a charged battery fairly quickly.
