Can I Return My BMW Lease Early?

Leasing a BMW has become an increasingly popular alternative to buying one, largely due to lower monthly payments and the ability to drive new models as soon as they’re released.

Early Lease Returns

Whether you’ve been leasing your BMW for a few months or over a year, we accept any and all lease returns at our BMW dealership. However, if you’ve leased a BMW car and wish to end it early, it’s best to know the consequences of doing so. That way, you can avoid some of the penalties before they happen.

Penalties for Early Lease Termination 

Breaking your lease early involves some fees, which we can tell you all about when you visit our BMW finance center. You’ll have to read your specific lease contract to learn what they are, but in general, they consist of: 

• Paying the remaining payments on the lease 
• Early termination fees 
• Fees for storage and transportation of the car 
• Fees meant to cover dealer cost for preparing the vehicle for sale 

How to Avoid Fees 

While some fees can’t be avoided, there are a few ways you can avoid paying hefty penalties. For example, you can: 

• Trade in for another vehicle 
• Transfer your lease to someone else
• Purchase your lease
• Sell your lease
