Certified Pre-Owned BMW FAQ

If you’re browsing our pre-owned BMW inventory either on our website or here at BMW of Wesley Chapel, you’ll likely stumble across our Certified Pre-Owned BMW vehicles. What exactly is this, and how does a car become certified?
Put simply, vehicles that are classified as Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) represent the best of the best in our pre-owned inventory. Here are some questions that we often receive regarding these pre-owned cars.
Q: How does a car become certified?
A: To be eligible for our BMW CPO program, a late-model vehicle must have more than 300 miles but less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. Our dealers review each vehicle’s CARFAX or AutoCheck report to make sure that it has genuine BMW parts and an up-to-date maintenance history.
Q: How are CPO cars inspected?
A: The next step for a BMW car to become certified is for it to pass an extensive inspection. This inspection covers every conceivable aspect of the vehicle, from the powertrain and doors to the infotainment system.
At this point, the vehicle must also get reconditioned and approved by our trained BMW technicians who know the car best. Every vehicle is inspected for safety, performance, and wear, down to the subtlest details.
Q: Is there a warranty?
A: Buying a CPO BMW car also gives you extra reassurance in the form of a warranty. The BMW Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty provides comprehensive coverage for one year, with unlimited miles, after the expiration of the four-year/50,000-mile BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Q: Are there any additional benefits?
A: In addition to the above perks, BMW CPO cars also have the following benefits:
- Provided Vehicle History Report
- Three months of SiriusXM™ satellite radio
- Six years of BMW roadside assistance
